Major digital milestone for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals set to improve patient care
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTH) has transitioned from their legacy Patient Administration System (PAS), provided by IMS MAXIMS for over three decades, to the latest version of MAXIMS.
A move that will help improve patient care as well as the experience for staff.
This transformative "big bang" migration, successfully completed on 23rd June following a ‘dress rehearsal’ in May, marks a major leap forward in the trust’s digital maturity, helping deliver a solution which positions the trust for the future and helps meet national digital ambitions for the NHS.

“We are extremely grateful to our IMS MAXIMS colleagues for their close collaboration in delivering this important milestone on the Trust’s digital transformation journey. We’re excited to continue working together to unlock the full potential of MAXIMS for our patients and teams.”
“We’re incredibly proud to mark this significant milestone with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. The successful migration from their long-standing legacy PAS to the latest version of MAXIMS is a testament to the trust’s commitment to digital innovation. A complex and challenging transformation made possible by the exceptional dedication, expertise, and professionalism of both the BTH and IMS MAXIMS teams.”
On the 1st of July, we supported BTH at their fantastic ‘Meet MAXIMS’ launch event. The open event gave staff the chance to get hands-on with the new system, receive tips and support for logging in and navigating MAXIMS, and connect directly with our team and key trust colleagues to discuss all things MAXIMS. And of course, there was cake for everyone – because what’s a celebration without cake?
