Role: IT Manager
Location: The role operates on a hybrid working basis, with attendance at the Milton Keynes office required two days per week. Additional in‑office attendance may be required from time to time to support the responsibilities of the IT Manager role and the delivery of project work.
Occasional travel to our offices in Dublin and Romania will be required. The organisation’s data centre is located in Northamptonshire, and the role will involve periodic visits for hardware maintenance and other operational requirements

About the role
The IT Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, security, and day‑to‑day management of the organisation’s IT systems and services. This role ensures technology supports business objectives, delivers reliable service to users, and operates in a secure, compliant, and cost‑effective manner.
The role will require out‑of‑hours working to support business‑critical systems and project delivery; Out of Hours support is paid in addition to the IT Manager’s annual salary.
Key responsibilities
IT Operations and Service Delivery
Manage and maintain all IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud services, endpoints, and core business applications
Ensure high availability, performance, and security of IT systems
Oversee helpdesk and support services, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and requests
Establish, monitor, and improve IT policies, procedures, and service standards
People Management
Allocate workload effectively and ensure adequate resourcing
Act as a key point of escalation for complex technical and service issues
Strategy and Planning
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation
Plan and manage system upgrades, implementations, and migrations
Security, risk and compliance
Ensure systems comply with relevant security standards, data protection regulations, and internal policies
Manage cybersecurity risks, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans
Oversee third‑party access and ensure correct Access Control policies are adhered to
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with senior leadership and department heads to understand business needs
Translate technical concepts into clear, non‑technical language for stakeholders
Provide regular reporting on IT performance, risks, and initiatives
Skills and Experience
Management skills
Proven experience in an IT management or senior IT leadership role
Experience managing IT support functions and service delivery
Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
Knowledge of ISO controls
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Technical skills
Strong technical expertise across IT infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, and end‑user computing environments
Experience delivering in‑house IT support across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line service levels
Proven experience with Microsoft Azure, including Infrastructure‑as‑a‑Service (IaaS), networking, storage, and security
In‑depth knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite, including Entra ID (Azure AD)
Strong experience administering Microsoft operating systems (server and desktop)
Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Hyper‑V virtualisation
Expertise in Microsoft Intune, including mobile device and endpoint management
Solid understanding of firewall technologies, network security principles, and the OSI model
Experience managing and supporting network switching environments
Knowledge of vulnerability management, including identification, remediation, and risk mitigation
Experience managing IT asset lifecycle management, from procurement through to disposal
Strong working knowledge of Active Directory services, including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related components
Basic working knowledge of SQL (non‑essential)
Exposure to Apache web server environments (non‑essential)
Experience supporting macOS environments (non‑essential)
