IMS MAXIMS has given its full support to the EHI CCIO Campaign which is calling for the development of a new role – chief clinical information officer – to provide clear clinical leadership on IT projects and the use of information in NHS provider organisations.
Endorsing the campaign Shane Tickell, CEO IMS MAXIMS said:
“Clinicians need to be a driving force behind NHS clinical IT programmes. There should also be a wider appreciation that good IT is not a technical issue; it’s essential for improving patient outcomes. The presence of strong clinical leadership at every trust could be of tremendous significance in enhancing healthcare across the country. As a supplier of clinical patient administration systems we know that clinical involvement, at every stage of a project, can be essential in ensuring that hospitals get solutions which fully suit the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.”
