Health and Care Innovation Expo 2015, 2nd and 3rd September, Manchester

For the second year running, IMS MAXIMS will be exhibiting at NHS England’s Health and Care Innovation Expo 2015. The event is hosted by NHS England and returns to Manchester Central from the 2nd-3rd September.

The IMS MAXIMS team will be available on stand number two to discuss the benefits, and answer  questions about its industry-changing open source electronic patient record (EPR) and patient administration system (PAS) software, called openMAXIMS.

The event is described as a world class learning and networking environment and is the centre for healthcare innovation. This is the first major healthcare event since the post-election and the first four months since the new government.

More than 5,000 people from health and care, the voluntary sector, local government and industry, will listen to health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, discuss and respond to the challenges and opportunities currently affecting the NHS.

Amongst other keynote speakers are Tim Kelsey, national director for patients and information, and Beverley Bryant director of digital technology, both of NHS England. The latter has often spoken publically about NHS England’s support for open source as an alternative option for NHS trusts looking for affordable and sustainable information systems.

The event comes after Wye Valley NHS Trust became the latest UK healthcare provider to sign up to an open source EPR after agreeing a five year service contract to implement the openMAXIMS EPR software to support the creation of accurate, accessible and integrated care records across its acute and community hospitals. The system will eventually integrate across multiple care settings, including social and primary care.

Leesa Ewing, business development director, said: “After announcing our contract with Wye Valley to implement an open source EPR, this show provides a good opportunity for us to demonstrate why personnel within the NHS are considering open-source software for major clinical hospital systems.

“Come and talk to us if you are looking to procure a proven, safe and flexible EPR system, and want to work with an experienced healthcare software company to provide support in transforming your care environment.”
