Over the next six weeks, Professor Michael Thick, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Information Officer of clinical specialist technology company IMS MAXIMS, will be joining leading healthcare thinkers and influencers from across UK and Ireland, to speak about advancing digital transformation.

With plans for Ireland to implement a national electronic health record programme, Professor Michael Thick will discuss the opportunities digitising the healthcare system will provide healthcare professionals and patients, focusing in particular on its potential in Urgent Care.

Experts from across the health tech industry, including George Crooks (Medical Director of NHS 24), Maria O’ Loughlin (Engagement Specialist, eHealth Ireland) and Professor Thick will participate in a Digital Health 2020 panel discussion, providing their predictions on the innovation that will disrupt healthcare in the next 3 years.

As a keynote speaker, Thick will also be presenting on the importance of advancing the digital agenda in Urgent Care in Ireland.

The panel, and keynote speaker session will both be held on the Medtech stage at 11am, and 1.40pm respectively.

Is the NHS ready to implement a successful national strategy to digitise secondary care, creating an open and fully interoperable healthcare system?

At the ‘Towards the Digital Hospital’ conference, Thick will be giving his views; presenting on his extensive experience of clinical involvement in advancing transformational change with the use of technology, and importantly meeting the recommendations in the NHS Five Year Forward View and Sustainability and Transformation Plans.

Thick’s keynote session is at 2pm.

As principal sponsors of the Leadership Summit, IMS MAXIMS will join digital health leaders from across the NHS, to exchange best practice and ideas to effectively implement transformation strategies that meet the challenges facing health & social care.

In his first speaking platform as Chair of the CCIO Industry Network, Thick will present on the importance of partnership between trusts and suppliers; drawing on experiences of working with Global Digital Exemplar, Taunton & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. Thick’s keynote will be held at 9.50am, on day one of the summit.

Thick will also use be sharing his ambitions for the CCIO Industry Network under his stewardship.

As part of the company’s continued commitment to develop a common ‘language’ for interoperability, IMS MAXIMS is sponsoring the first of its kind, educational Interop Summit. The conference will bring together frontline staff, informaticians and vendors to advance interoperability in the NHS.

Vice-Chair of the techUK Health & Care Council and Non-Executive Director of IMS MAXIMS, Paul Cooper, will join a panel discussion with esteemed leaders from across the industry, including Will Smart and Keith McNeill (CIO & CCIO of NHS England respectively) to discuss how interoperability standards should be developed to work effectively in the NHS.

The panel will be held at 1.30pm on day two of the summit.
