MAXIMS Patient Management
The NHS Improvement Plan (June 2004) set out the target that by December 2008 no one would wait longer than 18 weeks from GP referral to Consultant led hospital treatment (RTT).
Currently, the lack of a comprehensive view of each patient journey and the relationship with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets relevant to that journey is a major issue for Trusts.
In many instances the patient journey crosses boundaries between departments and each department only has visibility of that part of the patient journey for which it is responsible. MAXIMS Patient Management solves this problem.
To enable Trusts to monitor and enhance the workflow in order to meet key target indicators, IMS has developed the MAXIMS Patient Management 18 week target software solution.
The solution is designed to be fully integrated with any organisation’s existing systems.
Main areas of functionality are:
- MAXIMS Scheduler Patient appointment system including Patient Journey Viewer
- MAXIMS Patient Correspondence – Patient based letters for GP’s, referrals, patient communications
- MAXIMS Management Dashboard – Forward looking reports for monitoring patient journey performance
- Integration with other Trust systems appointments (eg. PAS, RIS, Physiotherapy etc)
MAXIMS Patient Management gathers details of key patient activities (referral, diagnostic and treatment appointments and events) into a single view of the patient journey, and does this actively so as to provide a view of both historic and future planned events for a patient. This is then overlaid with key target indicators, such as the 18 week target date, to allow early detection and rectification in those cases where:
- Patients that have a relevant future appointment that is beyond the target date and so will cause a breach unless rectified
- Patients that do not have a relevant future appointment booked and so may be in need of attention
Key Features and Benefits
The MAXIMS Patient Management solution will:
- Deliver efficiency savings resulting in greater throughput of patients in a shorter time-frame.
- Deliver an instantaneous organisational wide view of resource requirements to allow for greater management of the hospital's resources and the visibility of potential “bottlenecks” and “hotspots”.
- Remove the need to place patients on waiting lists or on hold whilst awaiting the results of diagnostic tests and thereby impacting on the patient journey.
- Sequence appointments for the patient care pathway providing a more efficient engagement with the hospital, reducing the number of visits and making the whole patient journey smoother, less traumatic and more productive.
In addition to the above the MAXIMS Patient Management solution will:
- Fully integrate with existing MAXIMS products as well as other non MAXIMS hospital systems.
- Gather details of key patient activities (referral, diagnostic and treatment appointments and events) into a single view of the patient journey.
- Provide a view of both historic and future planned events for a patient.
- Identify those patients whose planned journeys will breach any KPI targets.
- Deliver reports useful to the hospital that will help focus on those areas and services that are the cause of most concern.
- Provide easy-to-use electronic scheduling for those areas of the hospital that currently do not have such a scheduling tool available.
- Improve patient journey planning.
and
- Whilst developed for the 18 week RTT target, any similar or future target, such as the Cancer 4 week wait can also be monitored.
