MAXIMS e-PAS
As well as providing the MAXIMS comprehensive clinical system, IMS offer the MAXIMS e-PAS patient administration system. The clinical and PAS systems share a common presentation layer based on Flash technology to optimise speed of response and style of presentation. MAXIMS with MAXIMS e-PAS is suited to the creation or complete replacement of an EPR system.
MAXIMS is currently being connected to the CfH data Spine with connection to Patient Demographics, Service User Directory, Security Broker, Legitimate Relationships and Patient Consent. It is connected via the Spine Services Manager, which is a spine-aware layer supporting both the clinical and administrative modes of use. e-PAS is already connected to the choose-and-book service.
The versatility of e-PAS, the presentation layer, CfH toolkit integration and Spine integration make MAXIMS the optimal solution for a flexible regional approach – complete replacement where it is needed, with deep integration for longer-term solutions or light integration for short-term solutions.
MAXIMS e-PAS
MAXIMS uses a common presentation layer across MAXIMS Clinicals and MAXIMS e-PAS, providing seamless interaction and look-and-feel across the whole system. The user-interface is attractive and fast, using Flash technology to render data direct to browser objects without producing an intermediate set of HTML.

Integration to the CfH Data Spine
MAXIMS e-PAS is being made fully compliant to the CfH National Data Spine using proven components from the proven Case Notes product suite. The same technology was supplied for use in the first release of the spine and as part of the London programme for IT (LPfIT) .
The Spine Services Manager (SSM) connects to the Spine directly or via an LSP portal. A new or existing MAXIMS implementation may be enhanced to provide secure spine-compliant access to the application and patient record using the SSM’s spine-aware authentication and authorisation services. It provides a spine messaging service with a middle-layer component which forms part of MAXIMS and integrates to the PAS or patient record database.
The SSM supports Integration to Personal Demographics Service (PDS), Legitimate Relationship Service (LRS), Spine Directory Service (SDS) and Spine Security Broker (SSB). As development proceeds within the MAXIMS product suite, the SSM enables it to deliver advanced functionality in a way which is spine compliant.
The SSM supports Demographics, Service User, Workgroup and Relationship Management services. These services support enhanced patient identification, user- patient relationships, and permissions to access tasks and patient data.
Features
- Integration to Personal Demographics Service (PDS), Legitimate Relationship Service (LRS), Spine Directory Service (SDS) and Spine Security Broker (SSB).
- Supports both Spine-connected operation and offline working: MAXIMS and PAS continue to operate with internal demographics and user registers when the spine is unavailable.
- Proven with the UK NHS Data Spine in the London Shared Care system.
Benefits
- Provides user access to high-quality and up-to-date external service information.
- Provides seamless disconnected and connected operation.
- Maintains on-line capability during periods of off-line operation.
- Hides the complexity of spine messaging
