Software Engineering Group Lead – Suceava

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good technical skills and display leadership qualities. This role is for someone who is willing to go the extra mile to build a high-performance team and develop both the technology and the people. The role requires someone who can make measured decisions and get buy-in from the team and from management. Role Description

  • Drive innovation and best practice in coding. Look for new ways of strengthening the code base and standards and raising the quality.
  • Learn the code base and be able to step in and code when necessary
  • Continuously identify and implement standards and process improvements; positively challenge the status quo
  • Lead technical planning meetings, communicate timelines and oversee project development to ensure deadlines are being met
  • Work closely with Software Engineering Manager and Chief Product and Delivery officer to manager priorities
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards
  • Work with stakeholders across the company to resolve customer issues
  • Provide quality reports and updates to the Engineering Manager
  • Undertake Performance reviews
  • Conducts team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations
  • Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level
  • Contributing to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success or otherwise of projects
  • Develop people through mentoring and establishing career paths
  • Promote team engagement and motivation
  • Establish good work practices such as giving a voice to everyone, allowing expression in a safe environment and clarity on how to work in harmony towards the same goals
  • Manage conflict

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proven experience in leading and managing the delivery of system/software development projects in a structured environment
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of web application development
  • Must have the enthusiasm to drive through change
  • Must be able to demonstrate how they will mentor and develop the team
  • Good people skills: can work in agreement with others to achieve results and can lead and influence others
  • Experience in formal personal development planning and individual, team and process performance management
  • Be able to translate business requirements into technical designs
  • Assist in the submission of proposals on the long-term technical and architectural direction of MAXIMS applications products
  • Identify and communicate proactively technical problems and opportunities to the team and the stakeholders

Education and Experience

  • Educated to degree level and relevant experience
  • Experience within an Agile environment
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience with GIT and JIRA (or similar tools)
  • Experience of web application development
  • Experience in Java, JavaScript or C Sharp
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken in English
  • Knowledge of mobile application development (desirable)
