IMS AND CARE UK LAUNCH MOBILE HEALTH CARE SERVICE IN GREATER MANCHESTER

Healthcare software solutions provider,IMS has been working with Care UK, a leading independent sector provider of person-centred care, to bring revolutionary mobile diagnostic and treatment services to the residents of Greater Manchester.  Seven state of the art mobile clinical units, which give residents easier access to a range of minor treatments, took to the road this month in an area which sees some of the highest levels of ill health in the country.

IMS MAXIMS ‘Choose and Book’ compliant IT solution manages the end to end business processes for Care UK’s NHS contract which is aimed at bringing down waiting times and providing easier access to health care. The mobile units are the first of their kind in the UK.

Care UK is working in collaboration with Manchester PCT under the CATS (Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service) project to deliver clinical assessments at a more specialised and localised level than would typically be available in primary care. The MAXIMS IT solution from IMS allows Care UK to manage clinical notes and patient care by tapping into a central system, even when ‘working in the field.’

The mobile units will be able to offer services within Musculoskeletal, General Surgery, ENT, Gynaecology and Urology. As well as improving waiting times, will provide greater access to care, will help to achieve the 18 week waiting times target. In addition, patients who are referred to a CATS centre will have a simpler and quicker experience than those patients who go through existing routes.

The web-enabled MAXIMS solution comprises MAXIMS iCAB, Scheduling, OCS and Clinicals and will deliver end to end functionality from electronic referral to discharge, offering outpatient management and patient administration functionality for the central triage centre, as well as in depth clinical and OCS and Results Reporting ability for the seven mobile units.
