Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is now live with Order Communications and Results Reporting for the IMS MAXIMS preView Sexual Health Clinic Management System
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has been using the IMS preView Sexual Health Clinic Management solution for the last three years. The Trust has recently upgraded the system and implemented Order Communications and Results Reporting for pathology investigations. OCS/RR went ‘live’ at the Trust on 10th December 2009.
The system will allow the ordering of tests in preView to be sent electronically to the Trust’s laboratory systems and for the results of those tests to be returned to preView via the Trust’s integration engine. The ability to order tests and review/action results is controlled by role based access rights and the grouping of tests (test groups/profiles) is locally configurable. The layouts of bar-coded specimen labels are also configurable to Trust requirements and flexible reporting facilities will enable the Trust to drill down into order and result details.
By deploying this order entry and results reporting functionality, the integration of preView with the Trust’s LIMS is expected to bring about operational service benefits such as improvements in quality, reduced clinical risk, cost reduction and increased efficiency.
Future enhancements will see the deployment of an automated solution allowing patients to obtain results by ‘phone and the facility to advise patients of their results via SMS text messaging.
The deployment at Guy’s and St Thomas’ follows other recent successful OCS/RR projects at City and Hackney Teaching PCT and St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust. In the near future OCS/RR deployments are planned for the Garden Clinic, Upton Hospital, Slough and the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
